2008-2009 Greenland winter

June 2009

By June I’d made my last run for the season, I lifted my rope brake for one last time and we sped for home in glorious sunshine.

Looking back it had been a very good winter despite injuries. My dogs’ diet had a great deal to with that success. I might feed the occasional seal meat or walrus blubber but essentially the nutritional well-being of my dogs revolved around me feeding them Nutrience Active. They love it and look great on it.

With the end of the snow season it was maintenance and clean-up time.  I was all ready to eliminate a winter’s accumulation of dog grease and journey filth from my RAB down clothing and sleeping bags. I use Granger’s 30°C Down Wash. It’s easy to use and maintains insulation.

I had more kennel boxes to build and existing ones to maintain. The new ones I made out wood from old pallets.

Plet, in case you’re wondering, is up and running around fit and well. In his eyes I can see he’s already looking forward to next season already.

He won’t have to wait long.
